Alarming! Facebook AIs invent their own incomprehensible (at least to humans) language. Facebook “experts” are more concerned with analyzing whether this was a real language than the far more worrying aspects of this: that is, the “mere” fact that the AIs created a language. Isn’t the creation of and communication in a language supposed to be a key factor in deliniating our “human-ness” and differentiating us from animals?
The fact that this story triggers thoughts of the Tower of Babel language scramble is equally troubling.
