It’s sad to see the use of force in Spain to repress secessionism. But nobody seems to be wondering about the focus on Catalonia, part of Spain for 500 years, while Germany, which has strongly supported the “Europe of the Regions”, seems to have no Bavarian, Saxon etc. independence movements. For some hints about this, look up the Nazi maps of their proposed “Europe of the Regions” with Burgundy, Wallonia etc. Of course Catalonia is not on these maps since Franco was supposedly an ally of Berlin, but could he have had any illusions about Spain’s fate? The present troubles are the same divide-and-rule policy as 60 years ago…
