Although malaria is a problem, everything about the idea of genetically modified mosquitoes screams “no” to me…. Many things to go wrong and lots of ways to drive a hidden biowarfare agenda.
When I was in Mozambique 2 years ago, my experience of the malaria issue is that it was under control. Doctors and clinics are geared up for it and anti-malaria drugs are routine. No need for more “solutions” here. Better to focus on clean, running water and sanitation … sadly there is little/no money or fame in these unsexy areas that so no one proposes addressing these simple things.
