Italian election results: centre-right grouping 37%; 5-star movement 32%; centre-left grouping 23%; others 8%. Within the centre-right, euroskeptic Salvini’s League is the largest party, beating Berlusconi’s Forza Italia (internal composition of centre-right: League 50%, Berlusconi 38%, others 12%). In my view, Berlusconi’s party will now (opportunisistically) lean more towards euroskepticism. The 5-star movement has said it is against coalitions but Salvini’s win may cause the to clarify their own position which was anti-Brussels until they suddenly pulled back from this position on the eve of the elections. And the saga continues.
