Lest I be thought a purist, I DO enjoy JS Bach on other instruments than the ones he wrote for, IF it’s not done simply as a means of substituting the ever-present carpentry for the appropriate instrument, but as an exploration of “other possibilities”. Here’s one of my faves, the concerti for two and three harpsichords, and orchestra, arranged for two pianos and synthesizer by Bob James (yea, the jazz guy… who also has two marvelous albums of Rameau and Scarlatti on synthesizer). In the last concerto in D Minor: all three keyboard parts are played by synthesizer….
