Does anyone know anything about the significance of 13? Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the numeral 13. Maybe the number, too, depending on how conceptual one is.
If you groaned at that pun you probably had a math teacher like mine, who insisted you use “numeral” to refer to digits and “number” to refer to the vast concept represented by them.
According to the Urban Dictionary, Friggatriskaidekaphobia is
the fear of Friday the thirteenth. The Frigga is for Friday, the triskai is for 3, the deka means 10, so triskaideca means 13, and phobia is the fear.
(My internet connection is really choppy. I’m going to post this and continue in a bit.)
I was reading S.K. Bain’s The Most Dangerous Book in the World. He observed some cool stuff about the U.S. and the Great Seal and the numeral 13–
-13 stripes on American Flag
-13 original colonies
-13 steps on the unfinished pyramid
-13 stars above the eagle
-13 bars on the shield
-13 leaves on the olive branch
-13 olives
-13 arrows
