11Oct19 is the two hundred and ninety-second anniversary of both the coronation of George II of Great Britain and Ireland and the premiere performance of Handel’s coronation anthem, Zadok the Priest – a flimsy excuse to post a link to what is for me perhaps the most powerful piece of music ever.

From my usual position of ignorance, I’d speculate that, written ten years after the foundation of the first Grand Lodge, Zadok is laden with freemasonic and other esoteric significance; but for me it stands monumentally in its own right and turns every day into a celebration!
