this article about the vagus nerve mentions the nicotine research. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/connection-between-vagus-nerve-covid-19-deepak-chopra-md-official-/
I intuit that the cold therapy I rely on stimulates the vagus nerve. I wonder if nicotine patches re being used as therapy. I am interested in “medicine” delivered by transdermal patch, one benefit is that skin to bloodstream does not disrupt other systems like digestive or respiratory.

    • my speculation is that sedentary lifestyles (epidemic in a screen obsessed world) have contributed to systemic degradation of health.
Therefore stimulation of the vagus nerve is an easy step towards better health.  COVID seems to attack those with existing morbidities.

quite a bit of research on this topic….

      • Dr. Diana Driscoll has a protocol that addresses vagus nerve function among other things. There is a terrific interview with her on The Better Health Guy website in which nicotine is mentioned. She has some very interesting information and a website of her own which is linked at the interview.

      • I remember reading that singing can stimulate the vagus nerve. Strangely enough, singing is on the list of Covid no-no’s.
