… ah yes, our old friend Nominalism … a set of presuppositions that deny objective intelligibility (allowing only for individual determinations of intelligibility … Can you say Relativism Boys and Girls?, Good, I knew you could.) therefore allowing one to give up on any hope of obtaining any kind of knowledge about Reasoning or The Logic of Things.
Surely those holding any one of a number of possible Nominalisms are whom Dante had in mind when he referred to “Those who have lost the Good of the Intellect”.
“Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch’intrate” “All hope abandon, ye who enter here.” Perhaps the time has come for these words to replace, ““Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”. Instead of passing into “The Shinning City on the Hill” … “Through me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain: … ”
Have we, after all, truly become the New Colossus?

Maybe we are already in Heck (this is now getting absurd isn’t it? … but after all standards [Standards and Snowflakes and Micro-aggressions, These are a few of my favorite things … Come On Man!, sing along, you know the song!] and all that, when forced to use words like “heck” I’m immediately confronted by Graham Chapman as The Colonel saying in that wonderful comedic command voice, “That’s Silly, Stop That!”) in that the majority (in the USSA) appear to be acting as Dante describes … Chasing Meaningless Banners.
