This is interesting research but has incongruent/odd and politically driven “pitching” of its conclusions. I don’t have the same interpretaion of the study and its findings that the article and the paper do. Rather, I think they imply there are patterns in human physiology that can be “read” and that those patterns indicate preference, behavior and perhaps other characteristics. Maybe the gypsy fortune teller at the fair used the same patterns for her trade.
