So Turkey wants its gold back…. the article ascribes this to preparation for coming sanctions, I think there is something else going on.
“Turkey has decided to pull all of its gold reserves from the US Federal Reserve System. The Central Bank of Turkey requested that the 220 tons of gold be returned to Turkey. At the same time, two Turkish banks – Ziraat and Vakifbank – chose to remove their 95 tons of gold from the Federal Reserve as well.”

Not unsurprisingly they are taking a leaf from the Germans’ book – remember the longstanding connections between the two countries.
Indeed, I was wondering if Turkey was playing a German hand
Though ostensibly bad (the “sultan” manages to insult just about everybody) relations are deep, with 4 million “German Turks” and their relative family networks in Anatolia. I would like to read some updated research on this but most unsurprisingly seems to be in German only.
Start of the end of the fed.
I believe that Turkey has to wait 5-10 years to get their gold back, because there are some serious “transport&security” issues.
