“The U.S. Was Just Downgraded from a ‘Full’ to ‘Flawed Democracy’… That’s according to the Economist Intelligence Unit, which downgraded the U.S. in their 2016 Democracy Index published Wednesday. The move puts the U.S. in the same category as Poland, Mongolia, and Italy. To arrive at this conclusion, the paper analyzed over 200 countries and considered factors like political culture and political participation. ‘Popular trust in government, elected representatives and political parties has fallen to extremely low levels in the U.S.,’ the paper’s authors wrote. ‘This has been a long-term trend and one that preceded the election of [Donald] Trump as U.S. president in November 2016.’”

      • Not so quick, the article acknowledges that: “Popular trust in government, elected representatives and political parties has fallen to extremely low levels in the U.S.,” the paper’s authors wrote. “This has been a long-term trend and one that preceded the election of [Donald] Trump as U.S. president in November 2016.”

    • ‘This has been a long-term trend and one that preceded the election of [Donald] Trump as U.S. president in November 2016.’

    • The country suffered greatly under the Democratic administration of Woodrow Wilson. A man who brought about segregation.

    • Of course this was 2017, now that the Italy is making a bid for real independence how far down will MSM rating go?

      • like Catalonia tried to make a break for freedom? Oh how I guffawed… Italy get away from Silvio Berloscini? All you need to do is put nekkid women on TV and World Cup Football in order to subdue to Italian masses…. wait.. oh wait.. for the Love of Venus…https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41977785 ……. Its the end of Italy as we know it…

        • I said make a bid – who can tell what will happen. And deep down, the Catalonian movement, like the one in Scotland, coincides a little too much with the old “Europe of the Regions” project aimed at further reducing the power of nation states.
