When I was in Japan I was careful to queue up etc. as everyone else did. On rural trains things were easier: you just get on and off!
I only spent a few days in Tokyo but it was fascinating to see how there is this sense of expectation that “you too will keep things smooth flowing for everyone”… it almost floated in the air
The Chinese are quite the opposite, despite millennia of emperors, warlords and now communists.
