Oh thank you SO much Dana! I have not seen the film and I have not been to the Hermitage – at least not in this lifetime – but I am very familiar with it and know the geography very well. I am very closely connected to Mother Russia and this is a wonderful memory for me – I have just ordered the dvd.
I just Wiki’d this and I can’t wait to watch it. I’m at work, and cannot view the youtube clip. I love historical settings. All those elegant gowns!
Whole movie is free on YT etc. but obviously a higher definition view is preferable
It´s a huge, interesting place and I highly recommend it to all who visit in SPb. There is also an egyptology section in Hermitage with mummies and all. It´s my favourite part of museum 🙂 Museum of Artillery is another place worth to visit, there are a lot of stuff what Napoleon left behind when he ran away from Russia.
Russia?? Eygpt?? https://sitsshow.blogspot.nl/2015/10/russian-scientists-study-pyramids-and.html (:))
Lucky YOU to have access to such beautiful places. Don’t get me wrong, I love my country, especially its ruggedness, and I do live in a older part of NSW that is still all very colonial. But there is nothing like the grand palaces, residences and cathedrals of Old Europe.
Our most loveliest in NSW that I can think of are the cathedrals of St Mary’s and St Andrews in Sydney. Even our old government residences are run down if they’re owned by local councils.
