Secret deal revealed 40 years later? Among the numerous articles following the death at 89 of French politician, former minister and pro-abortion activist Simone Veil – Macron has announced she will be interred in the Paris Pantheon – the France-Israel Chamber of Commerce official website (French language) has revealed that when she was minister of health she signed an agreement to send French organs to Israel for transplants. As the article says, “very few people know this” which is tantamount to saying that the agreement was secret. Not quite sure why in this specific case since French support for Tel Aviv over the decades has certainly been no secret. Could there perhaps be any relation to rumours about organ trafficking that have surfaced in those parts of the world?

    • Unfortunately, I can’t get to Israeli sites from the UAE… thanks for the summary and shared speculations.

I used to hear lots of urban legend type stories about organ harvesting in the mid 90s in South Africa. The stories often featured the “date rape drug” rohepnol (spelling?) as the means to capture yong healthy “specimens”.

Recently there have been moves to establish Dubai as a hub for “medical tourism”. I heard of similar thoughts happening in India in the early 2000s coincidental with the IT offshoring boom.

These thoughts make me wonder if there is a connection between
      (1) ongoing organ trafficking,
      (2) the easy availability of a large population of people with fewer advantages in cash strapped positions passports, and
      (3) the development of medical infrastructure, perhaps disguised as medical tourism build out.
Or am I being too dark, cynical and uncharitable?

      • Well I don’t think that people would be travelling to Dubai just to get a tooth filling. The “offshore” location can be a screen for a variety of activities not possible elsewhere…
