When was this taken? I must have been prior to Seehofer’s resignation?
As second thing about this young man (I mean, 31 years old, and Chancellor of Austria???), is how well-spoken he is, and how fast on his feet he is. You’d have to look long, hard, and far to find a similar type of man in modern America at that age.
Yes there is a lag between the actual date of the pieces and the subtitled versions on this channel for the non-polyglot English-speaking world. A lot of fresh interviews do have automatic translation but the quality is usually laughably poor (which as a translator gives me a pinch of complacency!),
Dont know what to think of him.. Clearly.. if he’d done certain things.. I ‘d have said he was a Monarch product like Macron.. One does not get to the heady heights of power without a few strings being attached..(everyone here knows what Im alluding to right?) HOWEVER.. he’s clearly into protectionism, and he came out in support of Erdogan following the ‘failed military coup’.. so I think he’s leaning towards.. well.. Russia. He stopped funding mosques and Imans in Austria.. and he clearly wants to the borders closed to the refugees..
So.. I’m hoping he’s a real thing.. rather than a shiney gleaming ‘Messiah’ archetype brought in to save the Austrians from the waves of refugees coming in to breed out the ‘Supermen’.. its all Thule needs to spring back into European politics (as if they had ever left right??) Well.. they used the Hungarian and Polish refugees after WW1 to ignite the ‘populist’ ‘nationalist’ ‘we’re all teutonic WHITE knights in shining armour’ ‘romantisicists’ ‘racist bigot pieces of ****’ in Germany…. I’m just saying.. as soon as they had the Hitler Avatar/Messiah, people went ape-s**t… just saying.. complete exact carbon copy of pre nazi party social conditions.. inflation.. no jobs.. massive influx of immigrants.. and that was in the 1920’s..
I too am somewhat skeptical but as the good Doctor says “being good doesn’t mean being perfect”. In this case, “good” in the sense of bringing some benefit to the people of the country. -And it is probably safe to say that nothing important takes place in Austria without the Germans having a hand in it.
