Tidbit on language alteration. While doing some research I discovered in the titles of numerous papers a curious neologism spawned recently, mostly in US academic circles: the word “islamicate”. Sounds like a weird verb,. but it is an adjective, e.g. “the Islamicate World” etc. So “Moslem” and even “Islamic” are out, and this odd new word “In”.

In Spain they were called “moros”. I think it had to do with the colour of their skin because it means purple. Not very PC. back then according to modern standards, but it was quite natural to distinguish people according to their colouring.
