German grip on European nations in sequential order: first economical partnership, then common laws, open borders, currency, government, constitution and now a final touch, European army. Markel knew what she was doing by allowing refuge crisis to happen. You need a common enemy first before you call for unified army.

While some hold that the “European Army” already exists in the form of non-German contingents within the Bundeswehr (echoes of Waffen SS anybody?) I think this is too big for most countries to swallow. All of these announcements look like politicking, trying to persuade the French that they will be equal partners to Germany. Of course someone like Macron might swallow this – one of his ministers has called for the creation of a “European Empire”. And with the references to Marshall Pétain, some French general might be foolish enough to step forward as the new “Maréchal”.
But there is a little problem: who would be willing to die fighting for the Brussels-Berlin bankster band?
