We have rescued two abused dogs over the years. They like humans have trust issues and trauma. Our last one was a lab who was deathly afraid of brooms, so we knew she had to have been hit. She also had a bad hip spot from the hits.

I did have one rescue that played with toys but I think he ran away before the abuse got too bad. He was wild when I rescued him (they caught him in a trap in Austin). Germany periodically brings up the question of the permanent members of the “Security Council”. There are a couple of alternatives: the system set up nearly 80 years ago must inevitably change; or it will continue, with the UN itself, a bloated bureaucracy, fading into (even greater) irrelevance.
