Just came back from a month in Europe traveling through Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. Worst experience? Coming back through the US security check. Passport check was no problem (I believe that the face recognition software that they have now makes this a nearly interview-less experience) but even after passing security in Austria where they swabbed my waist, my bags after opening them, Baby Powder??? (and not like we had a chance to sneak out somewhere and get fluid explosives for our carry-on luggage), we were put through very close inspection by what can only be described as angry TSA agents. I chose to wait in the longer line for a new machine that more carefully scanned my bags (the agent there was actually human), but still had to go through the over-the-head-arm-pose body scan despite previous screening and approvals by TSA pre-check and CLEAR. It was obviously a method of reducing the number of foreign visitors and reminding those of us citizens that we are just slave scum/unnecessary eaters. US Customs went through my luggage and did not even bother to relock them let alone fully zip my largest bag.
