Correction, I put Black’s Law on hold until I could ask you if it’s better than the Oxford English Dictionary–which I already own. Thanks.

You’re welcome. Black’s Law dictionary (I would get the 6th Edition) is very different from the standard English dictionary. It gives the “legal” meaning(s) of words used in statutes, Old English Law, Roman Law, court proceedings, etc. It is a real eye opener.

Thanks for the clarification. Sixth edition it is.

“What if the two forms gold are respective vessels for good or for evil.”
I love this. IIRC, in the Plains Indian culture, the more generous the tribe member, the higher his status.

Can you see the Newsfeed, Chartres? Today is the first time I’ve seen it listed on my homepage. Of course it’s been a while since I’ve been on the community page because I was also frustrated I couldn’t see any other posts.

Since the vidchat I’ve been paying more attention to common English words. The words “soul” and “sole” and “sold” seem significant. I have not heard before of seven layers of symbolism for specific words but it makes sense. I have heard and discovered for myself that at least some mystery school stories have seven levels of meaning. It would be…[Read more]

I agree that symbols can be used as portals. The Golden Dawn used individual Tarot cards during meditation as portals into the Astral. I have found when doing a reading for myself that the layers within the Tarot symbols can easily unlock my subconscious and reveal a path out of a predicament.

Here is one from Black’s Law dictionary: Undertaking ” A promise, engagement, or stipulation. Each of the promises made by the parties to a contract, considered independently and not as mutual, may, in this sense, be denominated an “undertaking.” “Undertaking” is frequently used in the special sense of a promise given in the course of legal…[Read more]

So what concession of the dead is an undertaker obtaining. Or does the concession he requests come from the living?

I suppose the possibilities are eternal. 😉

Hi Alkimia,
Sorry, somehow I missed your post. Dealing with financial advice must be riveting these days. My husband worked in the commodities market; he was editor of Pioneer’s newsletter that analyzed market trends. He still likes to keep track of shipping indexes, etc.
I lucked out and escaped just before common core took over. From what…[Read more]-
Hi Kaytower,
My turn to apologise, some how I missed your post. Perhaps it is a glitch with the community?
Riveting…hmmm, not the adjective I would choose. my goal is for a change of career. The questioning of all that lead me to this site also lead me to an understanding of money and the realisation I had chosen the wrong vocation. I feel…[Read more]

Wonder what Jung would say? Record numbers of blackbirds are roosting in Rome’s trees this fall, resulting in general disaster. Starlings’ dining on grapes at local vineyards results in gastronomical droppings that give “bird shoot’ new meaning. Roman pedestrians use umbrellas as shields to ward off starling “sticky bombs.” Starling droppings…[Read more]

I’ve been wondering what your business is, if you don’t mind my asking. I’m a teacher who took early retirement.

Financial advice. Talk about a challenge!
My clients are principally domiciled in Melbourne. I work remotely from Bali. You might say I’ve tried to take early retirement. I bet you’re glad to be out of education given the common core program.-
