Thanks for the reminder to read Dave Mc Gowan’s book, Freefall. I hold no illusions as to the manipulation of the american ‘counter culture’ but because Ive not been drawn to the NYC specific scene, indeed it’s always given me the creeps (Warhol, L Reed, et al), Ive perhaps dismissed their deeper entanglements.

Could be a coincidence. I confess Ive never considered Lou Reed to have any deeper knowledge than his addictions allowed. Candy and Bluebirds are both drug references, but perhaps there’s more to the story?
