A rather pithy variation of “re-shoring… comes to mind. Yet once again, move along people, nothing to see here!
The tin foil side of my brain, could run wild with this one. If “they” were going to brick the US, having the Navy out of commission would be a viable strategy to achieve one’s “isolate the west” objective. A way to de-fang the US militarily, while simultaneously hitting on the economic front too. I wonder how the trade war is effecting the deliverable on these projects?
The other thing is they maybe setting up the Atlantic fleet like the Pacific 7th fleet, recall the News and Views episode a few weeks back where the Pacific fleet was setting up that new electronic warfare stuff.
