Thanks, Winston. I am retired now but I was an undergraduate naturalist/env. ed. major, bio. minor, secondary ed.degree and then went back to grad school as a landscape architect which I still maintain is one of the least understood professions. The primary purpose of the field is actually to be the dot connector between the site professionals (inventory: biologists, geologists, sociologists, etc.) by synthesizing a platform for design by architects, inc. landscape architects/ and engineers. A great landscape architect (and I have known a few of them) are truly autodidacts. I did not have the patience to work in a major office nor the university for long enough to become a “great LA”, but I was a very good one because of my ability to do the research, understand the variables and be able to develop logical solutions that would recognize that no matter what we did in year one, all site plans, all plans for that matter, are edited by God in the end.
Thanks for reminding me of this Dialogue. “Never get into an argument with someone who would not recognize that he has lost” somehow got forgotten and, I admit, I can always stand being re-enlightened..
