“The purely negative approach to the status quo is simply going to perpetuate this negativity.” – Sir Roger Scruton
What optimism have I, or more so, we perpetuated today? We owe our youth our optimism as there are most certainly beautiful things still, and forever, abounding each day.
So many here know the power of Intention, and yet, how often do we implore this innate gift? What Intention towards Beauty, Life, Love, or Hope have we perpetuated today and will for tomorrow? When these things get brought up often the notion is to formulate time, groups, and modes of Intention to shock the Medium. Now, this is a lovely and just cause, but far more important than short bursts of Grand Intention are the small, everyday moments that we must fill with our heart’s optimistic Intent. Negativity is the force behind the Negative. Be not a vessel for the Negative. Be Hopeful as the sunrise and piercing as the ray upon the field. A child was born in the dead of night. A flower stretches to meet the morning’s dew. The cool breeze awakens the Mind. Steam lifts effortlessly from this warm cup of tea. The day is anew. Life is Beauty, as is each and everyday.
That was a fantastic article and tribute to Sir Roger. I always wondered why Scruton didn’t include Derrida in Fools, Frauds, and Firebrands, and now I know.
Also, it’s quite sad how Hegel has been wrapped up in so many nefarious or, as they say, Luciferian plots against humanity. Every time I hear anyone reference the deep state, conspiracy, and Hegel, I always seize up inside. Those damn New Hegelians really soured the fruit. I’ve heard Scruton remark that whatever good that stemmed from the pen of Marx he first got from Hegel. Spot on, Sir Roger.
Also, also, Social Contract Theory! Now there’s a topic of critical discussion. I’ve always summed this concept in its best light to the Consent of the Governed. Though, this theory can certainly get out of hand. Federalism much! I’ve also been highly influenced by F. A. Hayek and his concepts on “the extended order”, which may simply be referred to as the system that allows capitalism to beneficially grow, stemming from our ability to restrain our primal instincts so that civility in the markets might flourish, that which gives rise to many of our trad(e)itions.

We get to create beauty by churning the crap to be fertile?
… these should offer a little fodder for future comments and discussion on of all things … Social Contract Theory and one of Dr. Farrell’s favorite subjects — dialectics. In this case of the Hegelian type … Enjoy!
