Hello. I’m new to Giza Death Star but I’ve been following Dr. Farrell for many years on You tube and have purchased several of his books. He epitomizes higher education, and I can only imagine what a semester in one of his courses must have been like. Lucky we have access to him on You Tube. However, after trying to listen to his latest News and Views with all the “buffering” issues… which miraculously overlapped quite specific bits of information, decided interference was something I was not prepared to tolerate. . Time to put my money on the table 🙂
So, I’ve been enjoying reading through the Forum this evening. I was quite fascinated by the video Claude submitted of Marina Abramovic. I had limited knowledge of her as an installation artist, but what I had seen of her never held my interest and seemed soul-less. Yet, I was quite surprised to see her work from a heretofore unknown perspective. None of the sources, either in text or videos that I’d ever seen ever showed blood, or body parts…and the silent, slow motion or totally motionlessness of herself in very short clips implied she could do this for hours, yet none of it allowed the whiff of ritualism to materialize. But boy-howdy sure makes a lot more sense now. Haven’t changed my opinion, still don’t like it, but now I know why! I love the Dr.’s rants music, his immersion into Baroque music…and here is a perfect illustration of modern ugliness and desecration., which either she, or the press sanitizes down to tedious monotony. She omits her intentions.
    Thanks very much Claude.

Welcome. Be sure to checkout the vidchats, dialogues and especially the webinars, all located under the MEMBERS tab. A wealth of knowledge.

      • Thank you Ronin…..I’m still working out navigating this sight…but I suppose once I burn out on binge watching the archived videos I will have calmed down enough to make sense of it 😉

    • Welcome Linda. I think we can safely say you’re here for all the right reasons. On Abramovic, isn’t it interesting that she’s promoting virtual reality headsets — which have been known to cause headaches due to their extremely high levels of microwave radiation– and she is famous for her “spirit cooking”?

      • Hi Primal Murmur. First I want to say how much I appreciate your screen name! It’s lovely. Don’t know
how I missed that step for creating a screen name when signing up, but here I am, maskless on the
internet! Getting back to Abramovic……your comments about the virtual reality headsets got me going on
        this subject again.
In another life I was an Art Teacher. As I mentioned before, I had come across her work but it was nothing
I shared with anyone, much less my students. Not because it was satanic, because I never saw that aspect, but because there was nothing exciting, creative, or remarkable in it, which in my opinion, lumped it in
with much of the slick, trendy and soul-less crap foisted on the world as art. It never pulled me and I
dismissed it. Her “installations” were lifeless, mind-numbingly tedious and about as creative burning
toast. (of course, the burnt toast metaphor has a lot more meaning for me today than it did then.)
Seeing that video a completely new layer comes into focus and her work achieves a chilling resolution.
Those “installations”…where she’d sit for hours, speechless, letting people stare into her eyes while no one
says anything do have a creepy, oracular, ritual feel to them I never picked up on. I like to think I would have noticed that back then. However it’s apparent my own understanding/conditioning dismissed evil,
and satanic ideation in any form, as a vestigial superstition reserved for the front pages of the National Inquirer, and horror movies, both mediums I disparaged as pandering to the unwashed masses. (Ignorant
and a snob, a glaring come-upance I must say) I was ignorant to even the possibility of satanic influences, asleep to the history and depth of manipulation conditioned into life on this planet. That comfortable bubble of ignorance and condescension I perched in was bolstered by her carefully and deliberately
sanitized publicity. I may not have “read” her meaning, but she garnered name recognition just the same,
no understanding on my part required or necessary. Which gets me back to your comment about her use
of virtual reality headsets…… it makes perfect sense that she does. It is a hook calculated to draw a much younger audience, a gimmick. “Kids” of all ages love high tech toys, and if it’s out there enough, trendy and kool enough, an expensive high tech experience, with thrills and chills, her message will slip right past
them because most of us won’t recognize what we don’t know exists. Reminds me of that line from the
movie “the Usual Suspects”: ” the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was
to convince people he doesn’t exist.” I don’t think she gives a rat’s ass about zapping their brains like a microwave oven. Her concern for humanity’s safety has very narrow narrow band width compared with yours. Even a brain dead body will pump blood. Isn’t blood her focus?
Despite the macabre subject I do think it’s important to shine light on it…and I thank you for writing back!
