If we are to believe the official results, Macron has delivered a humiliating defeat to Le Pen. I cannot help but believe the numbers are artificial in order to give Macron a ‘mandate’ and to deliver such a defeat to Le Pen that she does not push any further. However, I think it is entirely possible that my fellow citizens decided to choose Angela Merkel for President of France. Le Pen having been characterised in the press as “Hitler with a female face” had to run not only against an opponent but also the Press and the unseen powers of the Establishment. There is no doubt that she was not an ideal candidate, but she was the only way to say No to the hidden powers.
