Another one of those… interesting, but you got a PhD for that? (Always reminds me of the professor at UMich Biological Station who reworked his paper on the wear and tear of flicker feathers ad nauseam).

US on the Brink of Civil War?

I just picked this up in the last couple of weeks. I have a particular interest in Stalin, and plan on make reading the titles I have remaining in this tranche of books, prior to the most highly anticipated title still to come, that title will be Professor Stephen Kotkin’s Third Volume of his masterful Trilogy on Stalin. That will come…

Russia Is Going to Try to Clone an Army of 3,000-Year-Old Scythian Warriors
“In an online session of the Russian Geographical Society last month, Shoigu, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggested using the DNA of 3,000-year-old Scythian warriors to potentially bring them back to life.”

Even assuming that there is some truth to this report, and setting aside the role of epigenetics that would obviate the need for tomb raiding, such manipulations would present a serious problem: the completely different context/timeline experienced by humans even a few decades ago, much less centuries or millennia.

I can think of a possible short list of “people” that many wouldn’t mind seeing among the “leather donors”.

Seneca on Keeping Cool
“More than once, Seneca notes that, unlike other emotions, anger cannot be “hidden away” or “nurtured in secret,” given that it “announces itself and comes out in the face [in faciem exit]”. Anger is to be avoided, because it makes a man its slave. It is best to “repel instantly the first pricklings of anger”.
To t…[Read more]

Oh dear, am I going to put my foot in but….
For me there is a big difference between emotional incontinence and anger. There is nothing great and noble in emotional incontinence. Anger is an emotion that has its uses nothing more. Like with all emotions, recognize and deal with it appropriately. That is what we should teach our kids…-
Lately when when I see children referred to as “kids” I think of the goat worshippers that are currently abusing the world population which triggers my anger button.
As far as Seneca’s or Dr. Spocks’ advice on how to care for children, I would investigate their childhood development first.-
The world would be a different place right now if people stopt listening to outside authorities on what to think and feel (and acted upon rightful anger)!
-
-
-
Reminds me of Paul’s advice, be angry but do not sin. It’s what we do with our anger that is important. Getting mad in the British meaning also means insane. We can be insanely out of control when angry. That is the problem.
-
We can be “insanely” under any emotion not just anger. But yes, what we do (act) with that emotion = what matters.
-
Emotional Intelligence, anyone remember?
-
-
-
I would contend that anger often is hidden away and nurtured in secret (causing passive-aggressive behavior, for example), and therefore Seneca’s first statement is false. Further, I would argue that it is impossible to prevent emotions from occurring. I agree with Bizantura: what we do with an emotion is what matters. One can, with practice…

Interesting Times

Of course, there actually is NO ONE, not a single human, in the White House these days. Citizen Journalists have been on the story and as of Friday, they had pretty much cleared the whole place out. Very few National Guard around, either. Call it the White House, but I am not sure what it means these days.

Per the website phone line on the website tours of the White House are suspended.

I believe you are correct. Japanese YouTubes are reporting incredible stories about what is really happening as well!

Multiple sources have confirmed that there has been a great deal of activity at the “White House” but no one has actually lived there since Trump departed. Biden is not allowed in the Pentagon, does not ride on AF1 or Marine1, nor does the VProstitute. All show. Whatever is left of “Congress” is trying their best to execute the demands of…
