Interesting solution suggestions – “Strange Game” by the Burning Platform
    https://www.theburningplatform.com/2021/02/08/a-strange-game-part-two/

    • While I don’t agree with all of it, it does have some interesting suggestions, and I think solutions-oriented thinking is extremely important right now. I’d post on the solutions topic myself, but I’m still trying to figure out what the rules or consensus about appropriate forum topics is.

        • Well it’s pretty square on what not to post around here.Burning Platform isnt governed by the rules Giza is. I too agree with quite a few things that are said there and but not all. There are also some that I wont speak on at all. Joseph has said it quite well in relation to holding ones tongue and why.

            • Yes, I get the “discretion is the better part of valor” part and the Terms of Service, and those things make total sense to me.

                • However, solutions are needed. What is the use of gathered agile minds still capable of critical thinking if they cannot put those talents to work toward the formulation of an actionable course? An option for this here on Giza would be ideal; perhaps it is being worked on. In the meantime, I’m putting out feelers to see what may be possible – I’m no techy so not the best choice for this research but maybe the effort will produce something useful.

              • I may have found something that could fit the bill on Braxman’s site. Still checking some details – will share what I find.

                  • I am encouraged. What follows is my conversation at the Braxman site…

                    Me:
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to create a secure group forum for the free exchange of ideas on a wordpress website? All input will be greatly appreciated.

[Reply to] Me – Any reason you can’t do it here? You could set it up, place the invite and instructions on your WP site, and get it up and running.

First, define “secure” in terms of functionality — what precisely you want it to do — and this will help in getting what you want.

[Reply to] George Ghostwell – really? Where do I find the instructions to do this – newby 🙂

[Reply to] Me – There are FAQs here — instructive posts (not chats) with lists of Qs and As. Then there are more discussion-type forums to ask and find what is not on the FAQs, or build on it.

I do also recall a New User Basics board where it shows how to set up and use the blogs/room/groups functions, try to find that first. I’ll go look now too.

[Reply to] George Ghostwell – thanks George – off I go

[Reply to] George Ghostwell – I found this in the Blog area: Blogs Content

If you want to share ideas, you can do so using a Blog Room.

If you have a premium account, a blog room can also be turned into an external website.

A Blog Room is really a group space since other people sharing the same interest can post content as well if you allow it.

Blog Rooms are membership managed areas. They can be completely public or private. They can be “discoverable” (meaning listed for users to find), or they can be found only by invitation.

Join the many blog rooms available or start your own. This is how you begin to build a community.

Blog Rooms can be chained together with a parent Blog room and child blog rooms to better organize content.

Is this what you were referring to George? And if so, probably a stupid question on my part, is a private blog here secure?

Thanks much for your help George.

[Reply to] Me – Yes and yes. But it would be best if you define what you mean by secure. Encrypted? Anonymous? Invite only? Undetectable?

                    Me
[Reply to] George Ghostwell – I’m defining ‘secure’ as unlikely to be breached by those who do not support the exercise of free speech.

[Reply to] Me – I believe the correct answer would be not only unlikely, but impossible, or effectively impossible, by anyone or any entity, regardless of their feelings about feee speech.

You and your members would play a role, of course, but membership and access can be 100% controlled by you, so not even a member could allow someone to breach it.

                    Me
[Reply to] George Ghostwell – Let me restate; would invite only help protect participants from ending up on a ‘list’. These people would be discussing topics that tend to get censored if they don’t tow the mainstream narrative.

                    Me
[Reply to] George Ghostwell – how could it prevent a member from allowing it to be breached? Not allowing them to invite others?

                    [Reply to] Me – Yes.

[Reply to] George Ghostwell – Ah. Thank you George. I think I have the information I need now. A wonderful day to you kind sir 🙂

                    What do you think?
This appears to be something that could be utilized by the Giza site (Dr. Farrell and Daniel) if they so chose.

                      • George just shared one more item worth repeating…
                        George Ghostwell 02/09/21 08:07:44AM
[Reply to] Me – I’d say the only human way for a member to betray the confidences would be to copy and paste or screen shot content and publish it.

But even that would be impossible for anyone outside to authenticate, especially if you don’t use real names and don’t reference details in your private lives that identify who what or where you are.

                      • PiPoe – I appreciate your efforts… but I didn’t mean to suggest I was interested in a secure forum somewhere for discussing “iffy” topics. The stuff prohibited by the giza TOS is stuff I wouldn’t advocate anywhere anyway. My point was simply about subject matter. There seem to be different views on what the forum is / should be for: Only topics specifically related to one of Dr. Farrell’s books? Only news items that have to do with “strange stuff,” and not ordinary current events? Other things? That what I was getting at.

It’s aside from my main point, but since you mention it… I don’t believe anything on the internet is secure. IMO the claim that something digital is fully secure and private is at best a pipe dream and at worst some kind of trap.

                          • My apologies for misunderstanding. Yes, the general ‘theme’ for discussion on the Giza site is rather fuzzy. I suppose if it were important to Dr. Farrell, he would provide more specific criteria; which may be forthcoming – who knows.
And yes, I agree that nothing on the internet is entirely secure. It is my understanding that there are subjects not expressed within the TOS that are risky for this site (which is quite public). By risk, I am referring to just suggesting a different perspective than that which is the official position/narrative. It is my interest to find a way where alternative views and simply sensitive topics can be discussed openly without placing the Giza site in jeopardy of censorship/de-platforming. Just for clarification, there are certain topics that I would not discuss nor advocate online regardless.
