I remember what happened in 2008 – 9; many neighbors lost their homes. It was heartbreaking to witness.

  Speaking for myself, I sure wouldn’t take on much debt–and absolutely no variable-rate debt–to buy real estate in today’s environment. I just hope we don’t see a big push in a few years to force people out of rural and suburban zones and into big cities. I think that’s the plan, once urban real estate hits bottom and the big guys buy it up, and after the full economic impact of lockdown sets in. But here’s my intention that we PROSPER in spite of their plans!

    Yes, I agree they will try and force people out of rural areas especially those areas that are agriculturally viable. I expect they will use taxation (that’s already happened in some places), weather, and of course the destruction of enterprises that enable independent income generation.
    And yes, many will find ways to thrive regardless of what is thrown at them. Creativity, determination, and community will be very helpful in this regard.
