Today we commemorate anniversary of Soviet invasion of Poland 09.17.1939. Interesting speech by Gary Kasparov.

Opens with some opportune comments on the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact. But this business about present-day “Ukrainian patriots slanderously accused of being fascists” reveal’s the speaker’s political agenda. In Poland and the Baltic States people will sooner or later have to realistically face the emerging Eurasian world, and use their skills to negotiate pragmatically with Russia and Germany, discounting the assurances of the declining American Empire. Indeed, when Poland was a great empire in the 16-17th centuries, its multi-ethnic (Poles Lithuanians Tartars “Ruthenians” Ukrainians Jews etc.) composition and its largely multi-religious character contributed to its success.
Problem is Dana that “pragmatic negotiating with Germany and Russia” has never worked out well for Poles.
