Did we really evolve through warfare or did war come along after we had the luxury of stable populations/canon fodder to feed it? Perhaps it was empathy that got us there and then some sort of trauma occurred on a large enough scale to enough humans to tip the scales into this current Darwinian theme park. ?

Interesting thought. I have never assumed war is innate to human nature but came along at some later point.
I’m just fishing.
I know you don’t assume as much, I read your stuff.
often come across the assumption though that warfare is somehow genetic and all part of the Darwinian folly. Survival of the fittest and all that voodoo.
I’m not to proud to admit that in my own less enlightened past I had made this assumption.
Now it’s obvious to me that empathy is your best bet when growing a species.
I’ve read that the Dead Sea Scrolls of the Essenes suggest that a malignant presence called the Archons have a lot to do with that perpetual state of war and lack of empathy which for millennia has pervaded much of humanity Dan, Eckhardt Tolle calls it the “pain body” in his works “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth”
I’ve read the Dead Sea scrolls, (translation obviously), and various associated literature also. The archons are an old favourite of mine and I believe them to be real.
They are the children of the fallen Sophia Achamoth, (earth), just as we are however the Sophia did not co create them with source as she did to create us. The Sophia is trapped within the creation just as we are. The archons awoke within creation before us and believe the creation is theirs to rule as gods.
I’ve followed gnostic teachings for some time now and it resonates strongly for me.
Once you go down this path you notice the Gnostics have been speaking to us the whole time and never left.
Masters of metaphor and jest they show us the true nature of creation from the guise of the fool. The gnostic path is the way of the fool. The fool reveals through jest. The tarot fool is thrice great.
The following link is a good way to get to know the Gnostic authors of the Nag Hammadi.
..”But so wonderful had been the instruction imparted that the disciples imagined that all had been revealed to them, and that the First Mystery–the Father in the likeness of a dove–was the end of all ends and the gnosis of all gnoses. They did not know that this First Mystery was the lowest of a vast series of still higher mysteries…”

Hypostasis of the archons
..”His thoughts became blind. And having expelled his power—that is, the blasphemy he had spoken—he pursued it down to chaos and the abyss, his mother, at the instigation of Pistis Sophia. She established each of his offspring in conformity with its power, after the pattern of the realms that are above, for by starting from the invisible world the visible world was invented…
