I simply don’t understand the reasoning to ban the video of the NZ massacre. I’m not going to get off into the weeds yet on this one, I know the internet is ablaze with FF theories, so for the sake of argument lets assume the “facts” are indeed facts. First off, my heart goes out to the victims and their families. But people need to pull their heads out of the sand and realize that evil people are out there. This video should be viewed by EVERY adult. It should be studied, not banned. People need to see the reality of a mass shooting (or any other attack) and develop a plan and certain mindset. I watched the video several times and the first thing I noticed were people just laying in the corner, this is NOT a plan.

“Maybe if I don’t look, it can’t hurt me!”People need to stop trying to rationalize or make sense of evil, and start DOING something. Doing anything, ANYTHING, is the only thing you can control, even in a bad situation. Allowing someone else to make choices for you is a sure way to die. These actions, and inactions were choices.
The intent of this post isn’t so sound callus or heartless, but to get people to actually critically think about what they would do in a situation like this. Age, ability (both physically and skillsets) and environment are all things to consider.

Although the Prime Minister immediately suggest gun control, it was my understanding that, unlike the US where someone could have run out to their car and got their gun, New Zealand isn’t particularly a gun-wielding society. This terrorist faction knew that which is why the attack was in New Zealand, not Texas.
I agree, the last Texas Church shooting, ended via a good guy with an AR-15. I understand that many of these mass shootings happen at soft targets (No Gun Zones). I’m not necessarily talking about always being prepared to, “bring a gun to a gun fight” though, I’m talking about having the mental clarity to act in the face of danger. I spent many years of my life training and fighting for the Empire prior to, “waking up.” The truth about a gunfight, or in this case engaging unarmed “fish in a barrel,” is that you can only engage one target at a time. In a gun fight, you have to have the courage to focus and accurately engage one bad guy with a gun at a time, which is incredibly scary. In this particular case, I only saw ONE person rush him, who sadly was gunned down. The cold reality of this tragedy is that this guy was grossly outnumbered and could have been overrun.
The point is, ACTION is many times, the difference between life or death. I’ll admit, I am probably a minority based on my background and experiences. I refuse to rely on solely outsourcing my personal safety. You can’t expect your average citizen to be Rambo, but fight or flight is a real thing. At the risk of sounding even more callus, would this have had the same results if it were attempted 50 or 100 years ago? “Men grow soft when away from the jungle to long.” Humans have always been predators, aggressive, cunning and deadly. Even the smallest of animals will fight for their lives in nature. My question is, and this will make me sound even more disconnected, when did we become lambs for the slaughter? It’s hard to tell in the video, but I assume there were men, woman AND children present, a pack (family unit) tends to defend its own against an aggressor.
Admittedly, I am not very articulate, so please consider this my approach to study and analyze this incident among my fellow Gizar’s.
Quite frankly, since I am old enough to “know”, 25 years ago would have had a different outcome most places here in the States. Through the public school system, and reinforcement at the college level, the anti-gun sentiment has made adequate arms training nearly obsolete here. Of course, that isn’t universal as many rural areas still have strong arms training for youth (true here in Texas) if for no other reason, besides animal harvesting (too many deer and not enough land for good population health) than to defend yourself from “rattlers”, both the kind that slither and the two legged kind who are up to no good. For those who don’t live near a border in a rural area, they wouldn’t “get it”. My neighbor pulled out her “45” when two men accosted her while she was tending a flock of goats, for example. Becoming a nation of unarmed wimps is a very dangerous thing, IMO.
