Good Evening All. I realize it has been a few months since the fire at Notre Dame. As a result of some recent reading I began to wonder … In the 13th Century there occurred what has been called “The Heresy of The Brethren of the Free Spirit.” Writings and persons thought to be connected to this heresy were burned. During Easter High Mass in 1950 an incident occurred where a young man posing as a Dominican priest walked up to the altar and began reading “a sermon.” I have been rereading material about both incidents and am beginning to wonder if the recent incident at Notre Dame might be a modern response to what might be thought by some “Traditionalists” to be a resurgence of Free Spiritism in the Catholic Church. I have looked for, but haven’t been able to find any current speculation about such a connection. I would be interested to know if any European Gizars may have seen such.
