Yes, first get REAL INFORMATION then DRAW CONCLUSIONS !!!

“It may be remarked that nobody would care to study logic unless he had already made up his mind that men were so apt to err in their sense of logicality as often to reason ill, and unless he held the distinction between reasoning well and reasoning ill was that the former is conducive to the knowledge of the truth, and the latter not so, and that by truth is meant something not dependent upon how we feel or think it to be.” – C. S. Peirce (The Collected Papers, CP 2.18 , §3. DIFFERENT METHODS IN LOGIC

“Few persons care to study logic, because everybody conceives himself to be proficient enough in the art of reasoning already. But I observe that this satisfaction is limited to one’s own ratiocination, and does not extend to that of other men. ” – C. S. Peirce From Reasoning and The Logic of Things “The Fixation of Belief”

A fiasco in the making? As the coronavirus pandemic takes hold, we are making decisions without reliable data
    By JOHN P.A. IOANNIDIS MARCH 17, 2020

The current coronavirus disease, Covid-19, has been called a once-in-a-century pandemic. But it may also be a once-in-a-century evidence fiasco.

At a time when everyone needs better information, from disease modelers and governments to people quarantined or just social distancing, we lack reliable evidence on how many people have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 or who continue to become infected. Better information is needed to guide decisions and actions of monumental significance and to monitor their impact.

Draconian countermeasures have been adopted in many countries. If the pandemic dissipates — either on its own or because of these measures — short-term extreme social distancing and lockdowns may be bearable. How long, though, should measures like these be continued if the pandemic churns across the globe unabated? How can policymakers tell if they are doing more good than harm?

    • As far as I know the Italian National Health Institute (ISS Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Epidemiology Centre) is the only body openly publishing detailed analysis of the demographics and comorbidity aspects of the infection. The reports seem to be in Italian only but the language content is reduced and tables are provided. They are analysing the medical records of deceased persons “in whom covid was present”: average age about 80, and of these about 1% (one per cent) showed only covid while 99% showed on or more serious pathologies. They are now provding a breakdown of such illnesses. Since language and numbers are not (well almost not) an opinion, it is increasingly clear that the victims died “with” and not necessarily “from” covid. In a normal world we would have said they died of old age. Here is the link.

      • What they are NOT telling is the genome: whether it is the same protein as in China but this is highly unlikely, the proteins mutate as they spread. How many are there, is there one in each country or a whole series of mutations? Was Wuhan the real source, or are there other sources? Why did the infection spread specifically to Iran’s political leaders?

        • Social distancing. What good is it to “lock up” persons over 70 as the British appear set on doing?

          • There are certain commentators who applaud China’s “severe but just measures” which have allegedly stopped the contagion. Now apparently they have been delivering Vitamin C by the ton to their military bases. Why isn’t there a massive campaign for high doses of Vitamin C in the rest of the world (this is a rhetorical question: big pharma will not fade away quietly).

            • Big Pharma has been fighting the use of Vitamin C for decades (since Linus Pauling). Remember, they have murdered countless physicians who have used alternative research and methods to treat cancer. Vitamin C has been successful in many cases (big shock: cancer IS a virus related condition).
