… a .22 caliber will kill you dead (or at least cause serious harm) somewhere between 225 ft. to almost 5,200 ft. , but a 58 caliber will kill you deader at 65 kilometers (40.4 miles) that’s right, you read correctly boys and girls FORTY MILES.
COVID cure …. future iterations of the XM1299 cannon … you decide … Oh wait, I forgot. We (the people) no longer get to decide much, if anything, anymore.

It’s the latest weapon meant to intimidate China and Russia: a giant cannon that can fire shells about three times farther than a standard howitzer.
In the tests, conducted at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, the 58-caliber XM1299 cannon used a “supercharged” propellant to fire two types of munitions about 65 kilometers — much farther than a traditional howitzer’s 18-kilometer range.

A formidable piece of artillery. I’ve called in over the horizon artillery several times in the past, it’s highly useful against an embedded enemy. However, these slow moving “legacy” pieces of hardware will likely be sitting ducks to our “near peer” adversaries with hyper-sonic deliverable’s. Putin is likely chuckling to himself.
Fire and forget autonomous weapon systems are the future of conventional warfare. The moment this thunderous cannon claps off a projectile, it will be an easy target to find on the chess board.
