If we do not take advantage of this lag in time to win our freedom back via nonviolent means then eventually our only choices will be either to fight for our freedom or totally submit to the tyranny of one variety of mob or another. We must attempt to erode the faith in a supreme central government. We have to convince our colleagues, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and anyone who will listen that a supreme central government is neither a reasonable option nor the means to solutions for the problems we now face. We must convince them that taxes are quite simply a means for the care and feeding of parasites, and that since the end of World War II the vast majority of the misery people in this country have experienced can be attributed to the actions (or in some cases inactions) of government. We must encourage those around us who are currently in love with their tyrants to see the incredible amount of abuse, waste, and fraud that takes place in the name of government …

… some recent words from a friend … a little fodder for thought.

    • Some good fodder for thought… For my part, I don’t believe there’s enough time–in the short term–to win the hearts and minds of people who don’t already see there’s something terribly wrong going on. It seems a better use of time to: find and connect with like-minded people who can be a source of support; make actionable contingency plans, as best one can, for potentially difficult, chaotic times in the short to medium term; think of ways to get around, or detach from, whatever systems are put in place; and work on keeping yourself as psychologically and spiritually coherent as possible in order to face the future. (For me, that’s more than enough work already.) I agree with Dr. Farrell on “planting seeds”–it doesn’t take much time or effort, and it can make a difference. But since the seeds may sprout in 10 days, 10 years, or never, I’m not counting on being around for the harvest. All of that reflects my personal situation, energy level, and biases, and I certainly don’t have all the answers. If others can get out there and convince colleagues, friends, etc., more power to you!

        • I tend to agree about prospects for the short term. What is needed is some long term planning… or as C.A.F. says, if you’re not in a conspiracy then you need to start one. lol

        • I agree. This is a difficult battle, but better than bullets. I’ve been fighting on this front for 30 years. Just one on one as I move through life. I really cannot say how many I have come across in my years, but the number is significant. To what effect? Little, yet the seeds were sown. In that which is and that which might be, my words may take root. It is the only course under the conditions we were borne into. ‘Tis all we can do at present other than to secure that which may be needful in less pleasant times. The outcome is less relevant than our current action, if that made any sense….

          • This is a good comment for the Fireside Chat…asking for “action” items.
While there are many people who would hold up the two fingers (so sorry for that chromolady), there are also more people asking questions and listening rather than name calling (conspiracy theorist). All bets could be off if the frankenshot quickly turns into a nightmare.

            • “Freedom”… “Supreme”… “Fighting”… “Nightmare”… funny little abstractions within all our minds. All I’m reminded of these days is cycles, cycles, cycles… this is nothing new… cycles… cycles… cycles… here we are again…

              • I would agree with the premise to the degree that this is possible with either any individual, or for any group still rational enough to listen as well as pound the table. Where no fertile ground remains, I would suggest Gordon White’s adage and admonition to: “Not Spook The Zombies”!

                • Interesting Scarmoge… I just finished my umpteenth reading of the anti-federalist papers, and may be blogging about them or at least, some of them. Dover publications put out a little collection of them in one of their $6.00 “thrift paper backs,” which edition I just read. I go back to them every now and then, because of their prescience re. our current situation.
