NARCISSUS’ SPEECH AT KINDRED WELL

Do not morn my drowning death
as I am well alive and born again,
and now, in cool and clear water,
I flow out of the crystal well.

My vain words were but skin deep
and they struck not heart of matter.
Their echo I rejected as nothing.
Now, I call upon my soul to rise!

Shine forth thou, my inner star,
who I see in the eyes of the world,
reflected in the mirror of the soul,
as the world returns my smile.

Stillness in calm and deep water
causes no ripple to unrest my mind.
What image I see is you and me
in deep flowing blood of kindred.
