I made a quick test run and yes, Mint 18.3 is very very good. Maybe the best Linux distribution.

Is it possible run Linux on a Mac? Is it easy to do?
Yes, it is. I had a Macbook Pro model 8.2 and it had some heat issues with Linux, but newer models shouldn’t have this problem anymore.
It’s Semi-difficult, it’s not easy but it’s not rocket science.
