Caught this one on Friday and had to go back and watch it. It is an interesting interview with Dr. Steward Hameroff. Speaking about microtubules, quantum action and consciousness with Sophie on RT. https://www.rt.com/shows/sophieco-visionaries/499248-seeds-of-consciousness-brain-researcher/

    • Interesting idea that consciousness exists in cellular micro tubules. That assumption is based on the premise that consciousness exists locally, which is based on the observation of anaesthetised patients. However, I wonder if they’ve considered consciousness to be a non-local phenomenon, or the patients who have been able to report the conversations of the doctors and nurses when under a general anaesthetic. As always, it seems the drive is not to answer the deeper and existential questions, but instead to further the transhumanist agenda.

      • A year ago, I woke up under general anesthesia, saw what was going on, comprehended it, and just let myself fall back into the state of unawareness. I have dream journals stretching back at least twenty years and some stronger memories prior. I didn’t take him saying who we are is simply the mode of operation, he was simply describing it. And about non-locality, to get a bit “spiritual” we are divine beings, trying to develop the proper language to comprehend that which we already are. And just a dimension outside of our awareness, outside of physicality, is in “reality” where we exist. In my opinion. Almost every dream I have experienced, I had a template, an understanding of the context in which I was moving in, no matter how distorted the dream was. A memory “unconscious” to my “waking” state, yet subconsciously understood. So as far as I know, I’m still sleuthing about, trying to understand the basis of my own “simple” existence.

        • It’s a good idea to keep a dream journal. You are validating the other world. “Spiritual” and the “Divine” fits in very well with me.

    • He’s a bit mechanistic but I think he is on to something and hasn’t told his entire idea either….there has to be a totally “ethereal” component to our souls, but to interface with the body, the soul requires something to translate soul energy into the body – fantastic think piece! and i learned the term “panpsychism” : D
I think his work is like Freud’s first stabs at what he did – however I am not happy about the very end when they address using this work to upload consciousness into computers. UGH no.
