Tidbit: Antiquities Act – summary description in first few minutes of video. Sounds good on paper but will it inhibit the trend, now a century old, in the corporatisation and/or militarisation of US archaeological sites?

The aim is said to be to restore control of “national monument” areas to the people of the states.
Im more of a States Rights individual myself, but the outcome of this order may have more to do with giving oil companies carte blanche to move into areas that personally, Id like to see protected. New Mexico, for example, has amazing sites that surprise! have oil reserves ripe for the fracking. Im very aware of Agenda 2012, 2020, 2030.. and its land grabbing ways, so what to do? For-profit ugly destructive oil business that crushes every possible type of energy competation(intentionally mispelled, bad word) and the environment without impunity, or ? Not much of a balance.
A likely push by the mining and oil sector. So these areas would actually become (or remain) off limits to the “people” i.e. ordinary persons out for a hike or a drive, with fencing for “security” reasons. The focus on Utah is interesting, since this is an area with some rather curious associations. And maybe the “Grand Canyon ,mysteries” ( gold mines and possible archaeological treasures etc.) will have some light shed on them. But I would not hold my breath.
Two days ago a house blew up in Firestone, CO, two died. Anadarko the oil company is shutting down 3000 wells. All the wells in the area are about 25 years old. A different company drilled those wells. Of course no one will be guilty in the end.
I saw this news today, Sandygirl. It seems really rare if the offending party has to make proper restAtution. Maybe an heroic movie will be made like the BP explosion movie with drama and stirring human interest stories. And Nothing will be done about it.
