This could never have happened when I served in the Navy toward the end of the Vietnam War. Warships have collision avoidance software, numerous radars and trained operators who know what they are doing. In order to complete their missions, warships are to remain intact and combat ready, they will avoid a collision at all costs. Maybe common core is beginning to take its tole. Methinks this was done on purpose to give the Neocons more of a reason to go after the Philippines overtly now that they have sicked their pet, proxy Jihadists on them. It’s highly unlikely that such a perfect broadside hit would occur any other way. The speed at which both vessels move would make this a very slow motion crash with ample time for either ship to steer to avoid a collision with the warship the smaller and more agile of the two. Any captain who allows such an accident to occur will not remain a captain for long as his incompetence is readily apparent.

    • A few months ago a Russian “communications” vessel was said to have collided with a merchant ship not far from the Bosphorus.

    • Thanks WD, I was wondering what happened here and appreciate your thoughts about it. It seems there’s always an agenda.
