I have just returned from a ten day holiday in Italy. I was last there 2 years ago. Some observations:
– Extraordinary police presence in Cagliari, Sardinia for G7/8 meeting (not sure whether it was 7 or 8).
I don’t know what they were expecting from what seemed to be an uninterested local population, but there were a huge number of police all around the city, blocking various streets off etc. I did not see any journalists, protestors, … in fact anyone interested in the proceedings.
– Patrolling armed military (not police) with rifles ready at the airport in Florence/Firenze. Military vehicle (armored) parked in full view in the parking lot. Extremely visible and obvious.
– People were paying little to no attention to these things…. as if it was normal.I, on the other hand, was horrified and shocked. It reminded me of civil war type images but without the shell/bullet damage. It was very similar to 1980s South Africa style state of emergency police presence in townships.
Has the mind control media been so successful that we don’t even see the evidence that we’re living in a fascist military state?

There is some doubt as to whether those rifles are actually loaded…
But people ARE too indifferent about this, being too used to the “società dello spettacolo” (entertainment society)
Good point….. so perhaps an unconscious / subconscious mental process that says something like: “I see images like this on TV and in films and they are not real, so this is not “real” either”?
Or alternatively, the old Roman idea of bread and circuses.
Also, when I spoke to my husband about it (he is Italian) we concluded that while people there can still have their caffe and cornetto (morning pastry), there would be little chance of significant public outcry.
Very true. If for some reason Brussels banned coffee imports, Italy would be out of the EU in about five minutes
