Relaxing with some Haendel… here’s one of my faves: Op 6 No 12 (Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert). (For those who’ve been listening to vidchats, you’ll see the figured bass that we’ve occasionally talked about with the numbers in the bass line. This technique is key to how the Baroque and Classical composers thought of harmony. They didn’t think so much in terms of “chords” with letters, but mathematical relationships of intervals). These little Op 6 concerti grossi are fun pieces, and, I might add, much more diverse and less “labored” than JS Bach’s Brandenburgs (yea, I know that will be heresy to a lot of people).

Relaxing here too
Joseph / Dana .. It’s difficult to listen to this music and not shed a tear .. it’s just SO SO beautiful .. Then I wonder .. will humanity EVER create such musical magic again ? This music takes you to places you don’t want to leave (unlike todays music that makes you want to run) .. Beautiful .. Thank you
No heresy here Dr. Farrell after my experience listening to Handel. In fact, I fell asleep before I recall it ended sitting in my chair in front of computer last evening and awoke in a fog of delight 9 hours later as I marvel that my body has no stiffness whatsoever. Thank you, and now it’s time to make coffee and listen to Dana’s selection.
