Yes the down side of the Russian intervention in Syria is the role of Iran. With the Saudis, the Turks, and the Iranians involved, one is dealing with a situation that is radicalized at every turn.
I am not sure what you mean by ‘down side of the Russian intervention’. To me, it is the BRICS-SA block that is in the background, driving the US Insane Foreign Policy. If Iran can be brought under the umbrella of BIRCS-SA, with Iran’s vast exportable oil supplies, then a reserve currency, competative to the US Dollar, can be created. This new currency could be then exchangeable to OIL at a set fixed price. Thus Dollar Devaluation on the Petrodollar exchange can be either thwarted or hedged against. Major blow to the Wall Street manipulators.
Russia’s airbase in Syria, along with Russian strike missions against the ISIS (CIA) oil revenue routs, has made Russia the dominant player in the Middle East at this moment.
Joseph, this would be all very interesting in a game of RISK or such…but, well, I don’t trust the lunatics with live ammunition.
