Today I listened to the audio version of “Nietzsche and the Nazis” read by its author, Stephen Hicks. It’s a philosophical exposition but not full of difficult language. I found it thought provoking and learnt quite a bit. Find it here:

I read through the comments on Stephen Hick’s book Nietzsche and the Nazi’s , Dr. JPF would give it a thumb’s down IMHO. It’s thesis obscures much of the nature of Nazi party , correlating that possibly Nietzsche inspired err had profound influence in uncle Adolph’s reasoning and actions. But that’s just from reading the comments.
Stephen Hicks points out both where Nietzsche’s philosophy does and does NOT correspond to Nazi ideology. He points out several instances where the two are not at all in sync and includes Nietzche’s own criticisms of German culture. My conclusion in having listened to the whole thing is that Hicks is definitely anti Nazi and does not attribute causation for the ideology to Nietzsche, rather he shows how the Nazis selectively used some of Nietzche’s writings.
Anyway, if you do listen to or read the whole thing, you might come to your own opinion. It’s pretty short so would not take long.
