    This is a trend that bears watching. Totalitarians-R-Us: “People are not doing what we command? Gosh let’s stop them communicating, cut off their access to information, and take away their technology toys. Shut down the internet.”

      Nothing will be done that causes financial damage to the oligarchs – who can of course be warned about temporary shutdowns. But actually you just need an old-fashioned modem and a phone line to send and receive documents… of course this is basically peer-to-peer, which has its advantages in some cases, but cuts out the mass audience aspect that the web has got us used to.
