Somewhat related . . . the Sumerian language dictionary has been completed, after 90 years of work! Here’s the story of the project: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-13715296
It’s expensive in hardcover, but digital access is available:

[NB: please delete the asterisks * in the link needed to appease the moderator dictator!]
link didnt work, will try another way..
It works but, per my NB, you have to remove the * otherwise it gets kicked out by the mod on as*s and t*it ;-] . . . and thanks for the download link.
Here’s another quick reference, an easy look up table for the characters:

why did the writing get turned anti clock wise from 3000 to 2800?? Little bit of looking later.. Pictographs (3000) became cuneiform writing (2800).. thats why they turned it?? Maybe it was easier to draw with standerdized tools? (wedges, etc) With the early Babylonian, you can see it a series of pressions made by a standard wedge, following the outline of the pictograph. https://image.slidesharecdn.com/hot2014-140916014839-phpapp01/95/history-of-thought-part-1-the-ancient-western-world-33-638.jpg?cb=1483828954
