Been checking out this AI business. As I understand , the holy grail of AI is a general AI or AGI (artificial general intelligence) , kinda like our intelligence. So we are building a digital brain now and Im sure there are people here with some interesting viewpoints and\or links on the subject. Does it spell the possible end of the world as we know it like Mr. Musk and Mr. Hawkings propose or is it our “salvation”? Is it even doable to create such a thing? What is intelligence? (ok that las question can be misinterpreted , you know what I mean… ; )

AI will likely be the Antichrist imho. I can’t think of many things more satanic than a thinking machine without love. Love, being an “emanation of an extremely high order”, is as close to God as most of us can hope to get in this life. It can not be constructed artificially. The “intelligence” required to beat a human in chess is possible to refine to very great levels, but without love it will always remain a monstrosity.
There’s something demonic with all things artificial. Even something as simple as pen and paper makes you lose your memory. A chainsaw seems like a neat invention, but a hundred years later the Amazon is gone… and so on.
In reality, we’re falling and evolution unfolds from the higher to the lower always. There’s no progress, nor has there ever been. The increase in technological complexity is degeneration – not progress. The fruits of technology will show this with increasing clarity, I think.

Im leaning the same way , the more I think about this the less of a good idea it seems to be. The research paradigm it is based on might very possibly be lacking and plain wrong on some key issues like intelligence and conciousness wich both are things we dont yet fully understand. Human R&D is sadly unstoppable so eventually I suppose this is something we`re gonna have to deal with. But it might be one of our worst ideas and endevaours ever.
well for some reason my reply disappeared… maybe the AI decided to delete it? Im on my phone and cant be bothered to retype it, but basically I said I thought AI is a good candidate for the Antichrist as a unloving, thinking machine. Thats what CS is replying to.
