Yup. As always the message is the movie. Pity the majority of people don’t see the pattern.

I wonder if the insertion of Hollywood and media into our “phenomenological” feedback loop, through which we experience the world, is the cause (or one of the causes) of apathy and powerlessness in people? In Hollywood’s (and the media’s) twisting and shifting of the interpretation of the phenomena we experience so that it no longer truly represents reality, along with the hypnotic medium of conveying that interpretation, which engenders uncritical absorption of it, do they “highjack” people’s ability to self-determinedly experience reality? If so, when we act, it would be acting based on a subtly false interpretation of reality and hence we become less able to effect things in reality (or those effects don’t match expected outcomes because of our false mental models – interpretations – of reality). And so over time we ‘learn’: “what I do doesn’t have an effect or have the intended effect”, and so we stop trying or give up altogether?
